If you ever decide to upgrade (and don't want the Live Drive), consider the TBSC. However, that Audigy probably cost you quite a bit, so use it, enjoy it, and get your money's worth. I used to have a Sound Blaster Live x-Gamer 5.1, and the TBSC sounds MUCH better. View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gifĭecent, yes, but a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (what I use) sounds much better from what I have read. Unless you are a really anal retentive audiophile, you probably won't have any problem with the sound for music.
For games and movies, they kick ass for PC speakers. The sub is a bit boomy, but it doesn't sound bad by any stretch of the imagination. If you hunt around I'm pretty sure you can find it in writing on Klipsch's site.Īs far as the sound goes, I have heard much better for music out of my headphones (Etymotic ER4P and Sennheiser HD280 Pro), but I still listen to music occasionally from my speakers. The 2.1 and 4.1 satellites are also magnetically shielded. I had mine nearly touching my monitor with no interference for about 9 months. I have the Klipsch 5.1 and the satellites are magnetically shielded. I have a SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum so I guess that might be good enough for decent sounds.īy the way, what's the placement for your speakers like? I have a pretty cramped place to work on therefore I'm worrying about Klipsch's 4 ohms output since the only place for the satellites are right beside the monitor. Are they magnetically shielded? From what I know,4 ohms are mainly for car audio speakers, aren't they? Anyway, thanks bunch for your useful links. View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif MoreHumanThanHuman:Yea,that's pretty much the kind of sound I desire and had in mind,by the way your description sounds. But maybe the absence of 2 extra satellites might just make a difference. Pyu & Tonyguy02:I'd thought of that but generally the hardware vendors here won't let you try out anything (I mean anything) at all.The most they'll do is to get the power current test unit and stick those pincers to ensure that they're not faulty.Pay and try it out back home-only to realise they're no good for me would make things complicated.Miserable-that's why I'm asking for you fellas' vague impression of both speakers. Your respective advises are very much appreciated.Īnd yeah,I pretty much get what you guys are meaning-that it boils down to personal preferences. Might give you an opportunity to hear them before making a final decision, which I recommend. PS - there is a link on the Klipsch page to locate an authorized dealer near you. I've owned the ProMedias for 2 years now and have greatly enjoyed them.Īlso, what audio card are you using? That can make a bit of differenece for your sound reproduction as well.
Just go to the Forum link on the top bar (sorry, no direct link to the forum page.). I also found out a lot about the ProMedias from reading the forums on the Klipsch Website. While i am more likely to go put music on the stereo than play it through my computer, I do like the reproduction from the ProMedias. The bass can be a bit boomy, as mentioned, but I appreciate that in games and simply turn the bass down to respectable levels when listening to music. I do find the midrange of the speakers to be a bit weak, but the highs are crisp and bright and there is enough low end to rattle the windows, if that's your gig.
As someone who is something of an audiophile for my stereo/home theatre (B&W CDM NT series link) I can say that I was very suprised by the sound quality of the ProMedias. Unfortunately, I haven't heard the ATP3s, but I do own a set of the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1.
